Where can you find the island?

Roatan Island is located in the western Caribbean Sea off the north coast of Honduras. It is part of an archipelago called the "Gulf Islands". The original names were also Ruatan or Rattan. The elongated shape of the island resembles a fish. The total length is over 60 km and the widest part measures about 6 km. The island is surrounded by the world's second largest coral reef, which is active and is the home of many species of exotic fis.

As far as history is concerned, Roatan is named after the original Indian settlement "Roa". The first mention of this place is around 1505, when Christopher Columbus stood on his coast on his way to the New World. In addition to the official Spanish language, pidgin English is spoken here because till 1968 it was one of the colonies of Great Britain. The only religion is Christianity. The currency is called lempira and the ratio to the Czech crown is almost 1: 1.
